Marshfield School sleigh runners on the snow, intermingled with nervous chatter of the children as they hoped they would remember their parts, and wondered if Santa would recall meeting them at Holman's Toyland in Charlottetown . A prompter would be in place in the front row (usually one of the older pupils) just in case nerves would cause one to miss a line or two. The Hall was magically transformed on that night, as pupils and teacher presented a program to relatives and friends that was declared "the best yet". Santa arrives to the delight of the children, presents are passed out, the fudge is better than ever and sells for 5 cents a bag. With the children's faces aglow from the excitement of the Season, Silent Night is sung as only children can sing, and everyone agrees that "this teacher" can put on a wonderful concert and should be hired for another term.
