Marshfield Women's Institute Herring and Mrs. Phillip Matheson representing the Provincial Board of Directors. In addressing the group, Mrs. Herring stated that Women 's Institutes were responsible for introducing programs such as immunizations, dental care and public health in the schools. To mark this occasion a history of Marshfield was compiled under the initiative of Mrs. John Munn . 1978 - On the occasion of the 65th Anniversary, life memberships were presented to Helen Munn , Marguerite Godfrey and Helen Jenkins by Doreen Maclnnis , Provincial President. 1983 - The 70th Anniversary was celebrated with an afternoon tea held at Hall, with many former members in attendance. Sheila Fobes entertained with piano selections. WI were guests. This same year, Marshfield hosted the Area 10 B Convention with guests Doreen Maclnnis , Provincial President; Dr. Helen Herring , guest speaker; and District Home Economist Pat Manning , from the Dept . of Agriculture. The President of the convention was Doris MacBeath and the Secretary was Pauline Scott . 1987 & 1988 - A Spring Frolic, with local entertainment was held at the LM Montgomery School. 1988 - A 75th Anniversary Tea was held at Hall. Geneva King , Provincial President, presented life memberships to Ruth Scott and Helen Stetson . The members also enjoyed a tour of Government House and a social evening with Meadowbank ladies as guests at LM Montgomery School. 1989 - . Mellick Women 's Institute were guests of WI at the Hall for an evening of fun and frolic. These occasions were a time of getting acquainted and sharing ideas. 1990 - A Community Pride Program Committee was put in place and improvements were made to the Pioneer Cemetery and district signs were installed. 1991 - Helen Stetson won the Provincial Tweedmuir Competition and published her second book of poetry. Marjorie Bos wall was a delegate to the FWIC convention in Victoria BC representing District Area 10B. 1993 - Doris MacBeath was awarded the Adelaide Hoodless Award of Honor for her out¬ standing contribution to the Women 's Institute and Helen Stetson receives Tweedsmuir Competition 1st prize from W.I. Board Member Doreen Mclnnis. 1991. other charitable organizations and service groups. The presentation was made by Joyce MacKenzie , past President of FWIPEI and herself a winner of the same award. The ceremony took place at the 80th Provincial Convention at the Charlottetown Hotel. In the same year, 80th Anniversary celebrations were held at MacLaughlan's Best Western Hotel. FWIPEI Board member, Rena Thompson , presented life memberships to Marjorie Bos wall and Doris MacBeath . 1994 - Velma Carmody- MacDonald was named Chair of the Marshfield Pioneer Cemetery Doris MacBeath received the Adelaide Hoodless Award of Honor in 1993.
