His son John ( J.R .) inherited the farm who married Millicent MacEachern of Cherry Valley in 1901. As well as being a farmer, he became a concrete worker and performed and fulfilled many contracts for the Provincial Government, particularly bridge footings. From 1914-16, J.R . was a rancher and part owner of the Ranch Company . After this Company folded, he continued to operate an extensive fox ranch, thought to be the largest in Marshfield . J.R . was a very progressive man, being one of the first to own a motor car, about 1920, and one of the first in the area to have electricity, getting a power plant of his own. His family consisted of Dr. Charlotte Munn , the only woman in the graduating class of Dalhousie Medical School in 1928; Jean ( Mrs. Fred Small ) and Francis ( Mrs. George MacLeod ) who were twins became school teachers; and John who inherited the farm upon his father's death in 1953. John Munn married Helen Terrell in 1953, and they built a smaller house across the lane from the "big pink house." John Jr . was less of an entrepreneur than his father or grandfather, never-the-less he was very community spirited and loyal to his Presbyterian faith, and realized the necessity of a good education for his children. His wife Helen, a former school teacher, was a true blessing to the community. Her many contributions are noted throughout this book. John and Helen had three children, Millicent, Marguerite and Roderick, all of who are living off the Island and used the "big pink house" as their summer home for many years. John Munn died in 1972, leaving the property to his wife Helen. Upon Helen's death in 1991, their family inherited the property. In 1995, the farm was to leave the Munn name after one hundred and fifty years. The front fields of approximately 27 acres were purchased by farms, a 4-acre block next to Woodmere purchased by Wallace and Doris Wood, with the remaining acreage and houses purchased by Malletdale Farms of York .
