Curtis, an automotive mechanic, and his wife Connie (Blacquiere) raised five children: Marie, Audrey, Valerie, Douglas (deceased August 23, 1986) and Nancy. After Connie died on March 10, 1977,34 only Curtis, Nancy, her husband Jackie Roberts and Carol Strickland remained at home.

Curtis Strickland was killed in an unfortunate highway accident in Dunstaffnage on April 2, 1985.34 The house and lot then passed to Curtis’ daughter Nancy Roberts (Strickland) and her grandniece Carol Strickland.35 Carol, Nancy and her husband Jackie continue to live in the home.

The remainder of the original 11/2 acres was retained by Rufus until his death in 1954.35 Although Rufus’ wife Maria (Beames) continued to live in the home for a number of years, the house and property changed hands a number of times within the Strickland family and was eventually sold by Maria Strickland to Joseph and Carol Marie Gaudet in 1973.36

For a number of years, Joseph operated a small engine repair business from a workshop located on the property. The property changed hands a number of times within the Gaudet family and in 1985 was sold to Edward and Lucille Morrison.37 They retained the property until 1992 when it was sold to Paul Burhoe and Bernadette MacMillan,38 who still own the much-renovated property today. They have

In 1981, Walter, Benjamin Mallet’s son, formed a partnership with his son John called Malletdale Farms.39 The family farm continues today, operated by John and Glenda (Thompson) with their sons Ben, David and Robert plus daughter Katherine.
