#69 JOHN R. MILLIGAN BLACK-SMITH SHOP

from Kenny Minard‘s collection

Picture shows John R. and James (Jim) Dyment as they discuss the days business while standingin

front of the black-smith shop. Probably, his most notable work that was forged at the shop was the ornamental iron work for

the Freeland Presbyterian Church. John R., as he was known, also , was a “horse doctor”. One of the entries in his account bookvwas

a bill for “filing horse’s teeth”. That’s one procedure that would be interesting to see.
