for the tying up of the horses. 23 The build- ing committee consisted of John Yeo, Laurence Yeo andJohn Best. The Method- ist policy was that the church building was to be debt free at the time of its opening. It is not known if this was the case with St. James but it could explain why it took such a long period of time to rebuild and reopen the church after it blew down. It is unknown where services were held during
the rebuilding of the church, but minutes of the Circuit indicate the Lot 16 Methodists
were as active as CVCI‘.
St-Jamfs The trustee list of 1877 consisted of John Yeo, John Best,
Thomas Hodgson, Laurence Yeo, Alexander Crossman and, trustee of Parsoner, John Yeo. (Trustee of Parsoner is believed
to be the trustee to represent Lot 16 at Circuit meetings.) Members of the Society were listed as Mrs. Samuel Yeo, Mrs. John Yeo, Mrs.John Best and Mrs Richard Yeo.
