what it must have been like to be 80 years old and living in a fast moving time. He didn’t let life pass him by; instead he kept actively involved in the Orange Hall, black smithing, and farming. He loved church, whether it be Presbyterian, Methodist, or Baptist. His references to the various texts that the ministers preached is evidence of his remarkable memory. He loved companionship and hated being left alone. Thanks to a few minutes spent each night, he has enabled us to see life as it was.1
John Yeo (1841-1918)
John Yeo was born in Hartland, England, and came to Canada as a child with his father and mother, Samuel and Nancy (Prowse) Yeo. He married Harriet Ann Ford (1854- 1920) of Glasgow Road, Prince Edward Island in 1871. They lived and fanned in lower Southwest Lot 16.
Some of the original records noted that John Yeo was in attendance at a meeting held to form a Methodist Church in Lot 16 as part of the Bideford Charge. For many years, he was a trustee of the Lot 16 Methodist Church.
A diary (1909-1910) written by his wife Harriet, told of the minister coming to preach at the church Sunday afternoon
