REFLECTION: Dorothy (Monkley) MacLean

I recall, when I was in Grade Pour, a program on the radio, ‘Schurman’s School

Parade’. I entered that program and won. Then I had to compete in the finals. I

was given the poem, ‘The Miller and the Dee’ and had to practice for the big day. Our minister was Dr. S. R. Prince, better lenown as Thnnie, and he proceeded

to help me. He would come to our home and we would work on this piece of

poetry. Our efiorts were rewarded —— I placed second in the Gr. 1—4 category for

reading. That was May 24, 1950 and I will always remember Dr. Prince and ‘The Miller and the Dee’.

Rev. Theodore Ross was a very kind man. While he was minister in Lot 16,

I was taking a Business Course in Summerside and finding typing difficult. My little finger would not do what it was supposed to do. Mr. Ross, upon hearing of my problem, gave me his old Underwood typewriter to practice on. I still have this typewriter in my possession.
