The wives of the early ministers worked as hard for the church as did their husbands. These women gave much to the community and had strong personalities of their own. Mrs. Christie gave music lessons and was an ar1ist in the discipline of painting. Mrs. Ross was an alto singer and played the piano. She took a great interest in the youth of the community and their musical ability. She often held sing songs Sunday evening at the manse and invited community members. Mrs. Prince enjoyed working with the young people. She was a good gardener and was known for the sweet peas that she planted along the lane of the manse and used to decorate the church.
Island on March 30, 1882, son of Arthur and Eliza (Henderson) MacKay. He received his education at Prince of Wales College, Dalhousie University, and Pine Hill Divinity College. He was ordained in 1911. He min- istered to congregations in all three Maritime Provinces, serving at North Bedeque and Souris, and in his retire- ment, at Malpeque, Tryon, and Lot 16.
Rev. MacKay married Amy Sinclair of Summerfield and they had one daughter. Amy was the great-aunt of Edith Sinclair Yeo. In 1971, the congregations at Ken- sington and North Bedeque honoured Rev. MacKay on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his ordination. Rev. MacKay retired to Kensington in 1953 and resided there until his death at the age of ninety years in 1972.

Rev. Blair MacPhail (1967—1968)
Rev. MacPhail was born Sep- tember 16, 1906 in Tryon, Prince Edward Island to Malcolm and Catherine MacPhail. He attended Mt. Allison University where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1931.
