The purpose of the Society, which met for one hour on the first Wednesday of each month, was to stimulate an interest in the mission of the church and to help its members learn about and aid those who were devoting their lives to missionary work. Each member was asked to pay one dollar yearly membership; occa- sional members paid fifty cents. The purpose of the Woman’s Missionary Society was fulfilled in a two—fold way: worship and service. Worship consisted of opening devotions at each meeting, regular Thank Offering services, and an annual World Day of Prayer Service. The offering received from the World Day of Prayer Service was used for overseas relief, as well as for the distribution of Christian literature
