o-I£..... The Bands ( Baby Band and Mission Band ) I remember my mother going to WMS But what was it about? Twas the Woman's Missionary Society Which sponsored two groups I remember little about. One litde group was called Baby Band To which my parents had me belong, I remember seeing a group photo of wee ones Taken on Helen Lyle 's lawn. I still have a yellow certificate It's dated December 8th, 1954 Promoting me from Baby Band to Mission Band . But as for further details I know no more! Mission Band was the other group To which at age six you could belong?? And I know that as a litde girl lb this group I also did belong. One Friday in school we'd have , And the next week, Mission Band ; Violet MacGregor was our leader And at her house she'd let us land. What we did I can't specifically remember I just remember at the door Violet each one of us would greet, She was a role model for us children, So warm, so sincere, and so sweet. Baby Band Baby Band for preschool children was organized in October, 1941. It served as preparation for Mission Band with the objective being "to foster a mission¬ ary spirit from the earliest years and to preserve and increase the interest of the mothers in missionary work."4 Mite boxes were Baby Band , 1944 distributed to mothers with babies and throughout the year they collected and saved pennies in the boxes. Once a year a baby-band picnic-party was held with the mothers and their babies being present.
