LOT 16 UNITED CHURCH COUPLES’ CLUB
In the winter of 1976, seven young couples of the Lot 16 United Church decided to become acquainted with their new minister Rev. Bill MacDougall and his wife, Pat, who lived in the manse in North Bedeque. These couples were Willis and Dorothy MacLean, Anna and Allison Noye, Arlene and Bannerman Craig, Thane and Shirley Barlow, Eddie and Ruby Clark, Edith and Winston Yeo, and Dale and Helen Muttart.
Since all of the couples had young children requiring baby- sitters, it was decided to meet once every three weeks follow— ing the 7:30 evening service of worship. The group which be— came known informally as the
Couples’ Club would meet in

Scraps of material remaining fiom the gowns gave rise to an idea to make a quilt. It was quilted by the ladies of the club in Dale and Helen’s dining room. The quilt was sold for $100 at the Port Hill Gift Shop.
The group also sponsored fundraisers: bake sales, con- certs, pot luck suppers, and Christmas and New Year parties. Over the years, they were able to purchase an Electrolux
