FAMILIES ASSOCIATED WITH LOT 16 UNITED

s the writing of the Lot 16 United Church history A progressed, it became more and more apparent that y families had shaped the course of the church. It was believed that recognition should be given in some manner to the family names. An invitation was extended to congregation families to include in the publication a short family history and its involvement in the Lot 16 United Church, Lot 16 Presbyterian Church, and St. James Methodist Church. Some families responded while others chose not to do so. Hence, this chapter is not all inclusive. The family histories, for the most part, cover family mem- bers who Stayed in the community.

Loman and Margaret Adams

Loman and Margaret (Forbes) Adams and their daugh— ter, Belle, were regular supporters of the Lot 16 church. Their home was in St. Eleanor’s on the property now owned by Mary MacDonald, a daughter of John (Co-op) MacDonald. They made the long drive from St. Eleanor’s to Lot 16 to attend Sunday service.

William and Laura Adams

Laura (Campbell) Adams (1872-1930), was a great com- munity worker in Miscouche where She and her husband, William, lived. Their farm was L-shaped and ran back from the present road between Carr’s Comer and the Western Road to the old Lot 16 Dump Road and out to the road through Central Lot 16. They lived in the house where K.V. and Annie MacDonald raised their family. Mr. Adams was a quiet man but Mrs. Adams was very active in community affairs. Laura did much reading and writing for the early
