MOONEY DESCENDANTS CAME FROM IRELAND Andrew Mooney sailed to Canada from County Antrim, Ireland. He settled in Nova Scotia , in some place between Halifax and Antigonish . He had six sons and three daughters. All of this family were great musicians and had their own band in Nova Scotia . Andrew's son, Daniel, was born in Ireland, and married his bride Bridget O' Neil while they were still living in Ireland. Daniel and Bridget later left Ireland, and immigrated to Canada . They settled in Greenvale , P.E.I. It is worthy to note that Daniel was the only one of Andrew's family to settle in P.E.I. They had seven children, and called one Daniel, after his father. (This Daniel is my grandfather.) Daniel was born in Greenvale on November 24, 1891. He married Isabella MacDonald , who was bora in Saint Andrews, P.E.I , on October 17, 1872. There were eleven children from this marriage, ten of whom lived beyond infancy. Daniel was a blacksmith by trade, and built a forge in Chepstow . However, he found he was in a secluded area and did not get enough work, so he purchased a lot of land in Souris , and moved house and all to Souris where his business improved. Isabella worked as a midwife, and helped to bring many babies into the world. Often the delivery would be over before the doctor arrived. She usually remained in the household for ten days while the mother was recovering. Isabella realized the need for education and saw to it that all the family had a trade, or at least a High School education. The eldest child was George, who was born September 25, 1892. He married Lottie Thibeau and lived in New Glasgow , N.S ., before moving to Everett, Massachusetts . Joseph died in infancy. Marcus was born October 17, 1895 and served overseas during the first world war, he never married. Mary Eva was born on December 24, 1897. She was a school teacher and married John D. MacMasters . They had five children. Laura born March 23, 1900 worked as a secretary in before returning to Souris , where she worked in the office of Matthew and MacLean Ltd . In 1929, she married William Murphy and they moved to Georgetown in 1931. They had eight children. Laura died 22
