Form 469 Verification for participation in the Harvest Excursion, Aug. 14,1924, with Elmsdale postmark The Intercolonial and Canadian Pacific Railways have arranged for a Farm Laborer's Excursion to leave via St. John , N .B. on Tuesday, August 17th. Second-class tickets will be sold at the rate of $14.00 each to any point in the territory, Winnipeg to Moose Jaw, Estevan or Saltcoats inclusive. To each purchaser of a ticket will be issued a certificate which must be kept on him, as (the) farmer for whom he works will have to fill it out to show that he worked for him at least thirty days. When so filled out and presented to a C.P.R. Ticket Agent before No¬ vember 30th, a return ticket will be issued to starting points as named on certificate at the rate of $14.00. These excursions continued well into the 20th Cen¬ tury and provided needed labour for the Prairies. Men from Elmsdale who went on the Harvest Ex¬ cursion were: Russell Stewart , Elmer Ellis , David Williams , William Charles Wells , Ensign John MacLeod Hardy, Everett Rix , John Wilfred Boyle , Roland Burke , Sterling Matthews , and Stewart Matthews .
