On November 3, 1964 Orrin Wallace sold his shares to Ralph Rennie and on Octo- ber 12, 1978 the name of the business be— came R.H. Rennie and Sons Limited. When Ralph’s son Gary took over the business after Ralph’s death in 1984 the

name was changed to R.H. Rennie and Sons (1985) Limited.

Over the years the following bookkeep— ers worked for Rennie’s warehouse: Vera Williams, Shirley Matthews, J eanetta Ogden, Margaret Adams, Blanche Rennie and Connie Rennie. Some of the ware— The original Ralph Rennie warehouse, built in 1956 1101186 foremen WSI’C R0111€ BUI’kC, Roy . Williams, Earl Currie and Cyrus Gallant. Gary Rennie operated the warehouse and sold fertilizer and spray to the farmers who sold their potatoes to him. Margaret Adams retired in 1993. Gary and Connie ran the business until an early morning fire August 7, 1998 destroyed most of the building. The cause of the fire Was accidental. Some young men had parked their car near the warehouse. They were in the process of putting gasoline into their vehicle when someone lita match. There was an explosion that set the warehouse on fire. Following the fire Gary repairedthe end wall of what was left of his building, and as

a subcontractor for chemical and fertilizer companies, continued to sell these prod- ucts until his sudden death in 2004.

Spud Limited (including Jack Adams ’s) - Eric Adams and Thane MacNeill estab- llshed Spud Limited in 1974. They built a warehouse on the former Elmsdale School Property which had been purchased by Eric’s father, John W. Adams. “Jack” pur- Chased it from Heber Hardy, who had bought it at an auction after the new school - Was built. Since Eric and Thane resided in Ontario, their first crop was grown for them by Alton Williams and Erskine Matthews. Unfortunately the first crop was a
