GOIN’ TO THE CORNER
Harvest Excursionists last month and who is now familiarizing himself with conditions in that section of this young nation.
Island Farmer 1910 - Mr. Fraser Wells has a brood mare 3 years old this spring, one of the best on PEI. She weighs about 1550 lb. and not too fat. There are other nice horses around Elmsdale, all of which, if seen by good horsemen, would win a first class diploma.
June 16, 1914 Agriculturist Miminegash Notes - A barn belonging to Harry O’Brien at Elmsdale was destroyed by fire on Tuesday evening with practically all its contents. Mr. O’Brien’s house was saved with great difficulty.
Pioneer August 22, 1914 - A heavy crop of oats grown by Ebe Forsythe.
Pioneer August 26, 1914 - The crops in Elmsdale and surrounding section are better than they have been for years. Nearly every farmer has several stacks of hay and some of the stacks have over 20 loads in them. The grain crop too shows promise. While nearly every farmer has good wheat, a field owned by James O’Brien is worthy of special mention. It contains 6 acres. It is the White Fifian variety and almost 5 feet in height. The heads are very long and are filling well. The only weeds are a . few Canada thistle along the fence. It won first place in the Field of Standing Grain Competition for
Western Prince.
