Pioneer August 26,1914 - The crops in Elmsdale and surrounding section are better than they have been for years. Nearly every farmer has several stacks of hay and some of the stacks have over 20 loads in them. The grain crop too shows promise. While nearly every farmer has good wheat, a field owned by James O' Brien is worthy of special mention. It contains 6 acres. It is the White Fifian variety and almost 5 feet in height. The heads are very long and are filling well. The only weeds are a few Canada thistle along the fence. It won first place in the Field of Standing Grain Competition for .
