St. Bernadette’s CWL - One organization was the St. Bemadette’s C.W.L. which was formed in the early 1940s. Someof the members were: Elizabeth Clements, Katie Donahue, Linie McCarthy, Margaret Griffin, Minnie Griffin, Belle Luttrell, Regina Kelly, Bernice Griffin, Lillian O’Halloran, Bernice Kelly, Marion McCarthy and Necie Murphy.
The Holy Name Society - In the early 19403 under the direction of Rev. Michael Francis the Men’s Holy Name Society was formed. They met at homes or church Vestry on the first Sunday of each month for meetings.
St. Bernadette’s Parish Council of the CWL - In 1964 the Parish Council of the Catholic Women’s League was formed. The first meeting took place at the home of Mrs. James McCarthy on September 9, 1964. The charter members for this first meeting were: Bernice Griffin, President, Lillian O’Halloran, Treasurer, Linie McCarthy, Secretary, Marion McCarthy, Nellie Jones, Elizabeth Clements, Mrs. Benny Perry and Frances Mallett. Their spiritual leader was Rev. Reginald Phelan. Their first membership consisted of 28 members. Dues were $1.00 per person. Ad- vice given to the members by the organizing ladies was that members worked to-
