GOIN’ TO THE CORNER
In the January 4, 1908 Summerside Journal there'was a notice stating:
We "are sorry to learn that this is Mr. Hubert Chappell’slast trip for carrying the mail to Brockton, Roseville, and Miminegash, after,a service of 12 years, performed fruitfully and well. He and his wife were always ready and willing to entertain anyone going or coming by train and these people were always sure of a hearty welcome. We all join in wishing them the compliments of the season'and trust his successor many years as efficient and obliging.
This was the time that there was a post office in Brockton,’ in the home of Mr. John McCarthy from July 1, 1892 to October 31, 1913. ’ '
The July 1912 Summerside Journal read: “Tenders for'mail c,Ontract received until August 23, for the conveyance of his majesty’s mail on a; payment contract for four years, four times per week, each way between Alberton, Elmsdale, RoSebank, B100mfie1d, Mill River East (rural delivery).
