He and his wife were always ready and willing to entertain anyone going or coming by train and these people were always sure of a hearty welcome. We all join in wishing them the compliments of the season and trust his successor many years as efficient and obliging. This was the time that there was a post office in Brockton , in the home of Mr. John McCarthy from July 1, 1892 to October 31,1913. The July 1912 Journal read: "Tenders for mail contract received until August 23, for the conveyance of his majesty's mail on a payment contract for four years, four times per week, each way between Alberton , Elmsdale , Rosebank , Bloomfield , Mill River East (rural delivery).
