Second Flag Station in Elmsdale
signal standard — the so—called “flag” — was attached to the side of the shed. Those wish- ing to get on the train pushed the “flag” into a vertical position indicating that the train
'should stop.
The shed statiOn had a bench attached to the wall, but not stove or storage for freight. The name Dock Road Station was used for the railway station until at least 1879 (and ap— pears in the 1880 Meacham’s Atlas) al- though the community had been using the
.name Elmsdale for many years.
