It is believed that Ken first leased the store for a short time. The Summer side Journal May 10, 1948 stated that Ken Matthews purchased A.L. Rennie 's vacant store lot and egg grading station and lot. Another note in the Summerside JourĀ¬ nal June 7, 1948 told of the store and warehouses being moved to Ken's new lot of land. The work was done under the supervision of Neil MacDonald of O'Leary . Besides the dry goods, grocerĀ¬ ies, boots and clothing, Ken was a dealer for Ralston Purina Co. Ltd. He also sold oil and gasoline. He bought and shipped farm produce and ran a registered egg grading station. Before the store was moved Brendan Wallace graded eggs. In the new location, Earl Currie graded eggs and Brendan Wallace would fill in when necessary. In August 1951 Earl Currie was leaving the store, so he Ruby Fraser Coll .
