Following Hillard’s death, Bell’s Nursery became an outlet for Milligan’s Garden Centre of Miscouche. During 1998 and 1999 Milligan’s brought in the same nursery stock and perennials, which Pearl raised in her many flowerbeds. Although the nurs- ery has closed, Pearl continues to raise and sell perennials to friends and neighbours.

In 2003 and 2004 the Prince Edward Island Rural Beautification Society recognized Pearl’s work on her property. At the 2003 awards banquet she received 1St prize in Prince County for her flower garden and in 2004 she was awarded 1“ prize for her contribution to enhancement of beautification on PEI, for her pines and ponds, a senior’s award for beautification, and 2nd prize for rural mailbox and entrance en- hancement for Prince County. These prizes and awards were well deserved by this

avid and knowledgeable gardener.
