In 1999 Thane and Karen were approached by T estori America, a sub—contractor for Bombardier and Alstrom; to manufacture various interior and exterior fiberglass components for high—speed trains that would be delivered to Long Island, New York, Washington, Los Angeles, and New Jersey, USA. ' h
In December 2004 Island Concepts had 15 employees, which increased by January 31, 2005 to 20 full time employees, excluding Thane and Karen. The company now has a building with over 10, 000 square feet.
Within the first five years of business the company doubled its business and sales continues to grow. In May 2000 the company incorporated as Island Concepts Ltd. There are two shareholders, Thane and Karen, who own the company equally. Karen is the office manager and Thane is the shop manager.
