twenty-nine years, the president of the Board of the Alberton Museum, the vice- president of the Children’s Association of the Mentally Handicapped, and a member of the West Prince Board of Trade. For a number of years Robert was a trustee of Alberton District Regional High School and Elmsdale School.

Robert was affectionately known as the “Great West Wind” as he worked tirelessly for the people of First Prince. In 1991 Robert was named Alberton’s Citizen of the Year. Robert, at the time of his death on May 31, 1992, was still a member of the legislature and held the record for consecutive years of service and was the second longest serving member of the legislature.

in Ingonish, Nova Scotia, son of Walter A. and Julia Margaret (Hardy) MacLeod. Hector married Elizabeth Anne Campbell, daughter of Robert and Georgie (Lewis)
