A History of Elmsdale , West, and Brockton , Campbell. Hector and Elizabeth lived in Elmsdale in the Kenneth Matthews home from May 1968 until they moved into November 1, 1969. They have two children. From 1976 to 1979 Hector was an Alberton Town Councillor . He then served as the Mayor of Alberton from 1979 to 1989. He also served as the President for the PEI Federation of Municipalities from 1988 to 1989. In 1993 Hector was elected MLA for the District of First Prince and was the last member to represent this district. In 1996 Hector was re-elected and was the first member to represent the new riding of - Miminegash, until 2000 when he retired from politics. Hector was also Chairman of Caucus from 1995 to 2000. BARBERS Alvin Bell began a barbershop in Alberton in 1925. He continued to work there until 1965. He quit work for a short period of time, then went back to work in Alberton until 1969. He then moved his shop to his home in Elmsdale where he continued to cut hair while his health remained good. Billy Adams opened a barbershop in Summerside in 1970. In 1984 he opened a shop in the Elmsdale store. He still works out of his shop in Elmsdale four days a week, and two days a week he works in Richmond . Howard Adams cut hair in a shop lo¬ cated beside his home for a short period of time. Jack Adams took a barber course in Halifax.
