fire, which jumped across the road and caught onto the home of Fraser Rix, but little damage was done. In August 1948 Howard Adams opened a new service station where he sold White Rose gasoline. Due to ill health in 1949 Howard leased his garage to his assistant Ivan McInnis of St. Lawrence.
Jacob and Keir Murray became the next owners of the service station when they purchased it from Howard in December 1949 and ran it until August 1950, when they resold it to Hanson Oliver. Keir Murray was the head mechanic and had previ- ously worked for Howard Adams, and had learned the trade in the United States. Hanson Oliver ran the garage for about two years, supplying gas to all the area farmers and was an agent for Mercury Trucks and Cars, Meteor Cars and Cockshutt Machinery and parts. During the winter of 1952-1953 Earl and Elmer Lewis from Cascumpec leased the garage from Hanson. They used his trucks to haul gasoline up from Summerside and also did the mechanic work. In July 1952 Hanson Oliver opened a new garage in Alberton selling White Rose gasoline and Keir Murray was
his head mechanic.
Once again May 29, 1953 Howard Adams was back, assisted by Cleve Hardy, and had leased the White Rose Service Station from Hanson Oliver. Unfortunately,
