It will be good news indeed to those residents of living along the south side of the county to learn that new bus service is about to be inau¬ gurated between Summerside and Tignish . Mr. W.L. Williams of Elmsdale put in an application in October last for a franchise to operate this sea¬ son in conjunction with Mr. Vernon MacFarlane and another. The new company known as West¬ ern Bus Lines has two buses purchased. Both Mr. Williams and Mr. MacFarlane are ex-servicemen, the former having served four and a half years in the Air Force and Mr. MacFarlane for two and a half years in the Navy. The new service will be a decided boon to many people who live from four to twelve miles from the railway or bus line, includ¬ ing those in the West Point area. Merrill Wallace was a driver in 1946. This bus service was still running in 1947 but it is not known how long it ran after that. Island Transit Co-op Ltd, - This Company operated daily bus service from Tignish to Souris and Charlottetown with a summer service from New Glasgow , NS to Souris , with connections with the . J. S. Sutherland of Greenwich , PE was the president. Island Transit Co-op Ltd. operated from June 1976 to April 5, 1980.
