A History of Elmsdale , West, and Brockton , Westisle Painting Company - In April 1985 Leigh McKenna and Carmen Pineau formed the Westisle Painting Company. In 2006 Leigh still has two other people working for him. This is an Island-wide company painting both residential and com¬ mercial properties. McLellan's Locksmithing and Home Security Systems - After taking a course in locksmithing from NR1 Schools in the , David McLellan opened a business called McLellan's Locksmithing and Home Security Systems in 1998 in Elmsdale . He operated this business until October 2000, when he was accepted into the RCMP training program. They offered computer courses, sold computer systems, and did repairs. Kevin also worked out of his parents' home in Elmsdale . McCarthy's Woodworking Inc. - Jim McCarthy grew up on the , attending Brockton Elementary School, Regional High School, and then traveled daily to the Prince County Vocational School in Summerside . He graduated in 1975, then worked as a carpenter on construction jobs, while at the same time doing smaller woodworking projects in his shop at home. In September 1995 his shop and hip-roof barn, built in 1945, with all his tools inside, were lost in a fire of unknown origin. Jim had to begin all over again, building another shop in his yard in the spring of 1996, and by 1998 he was in full swing doing contracting work. At that 443
