The annual Christmas concert for Elmsdale school, put on by the pupils under the capable direction of their teachers Mrs. Sydney Forbes and Mr. James Currie, was a decided success. The concert was staged in Elmsdale Hall on Friday night December 21, 1945 with Rev. W. Ira MacDonald very capa- bly performing the duties of chairman. The program conSisted of choruses, dialogues, monologues, pantomimes and recitations. At the conclusion of the program Santa in his usual jovial manner ap- peared. The pupils and preschool children each received the Women’s Institute treat, which consisted

of a chocolate bar and orange.

This was the last concert held in the Orange Hall as it was mm in April 1946.

From the Island Farmer August 19, 1947: “The ice cream festival and dance held in Brockton School has been pronounced a social and financial success.”

Elmsdale Notes: A goodly number attended the

auction card play held at the home of Mr and Mrs, Frank Dunn on Thursday evening Dec. 18. The men’s prize was won by Mr. James Currie and the ladies prize by Mrs. Everett Shea. The consolation prizes won by Everett Shea and Miss Lois O’Brien. James O’Brien was the winner of the prize for the holder of the lucky seat and Mr Charles Dunn was the holder

of the lucky # score card.

An ice cream social was held on the grounds of Brockton School in June 1948. There were refreshments and bingo, then dancing to music of Carrie Gallant and Edmond

Clements.
