A History of Elmsdale, Elmsdale West, and Brockton, Prince Edward Island

The Summerside Journal July 23, 1940 stated:

A softball game between Elmsdale and Alma resulted in a victory for Elmsdale 40—10. In a closely contested game of softball between Elmsdale and a team of players from Lennox Island at Elmsdale, the Elmsdale team amazed the visitors by the close score of 26-25. A return game will be played at Lennox Island on July 29. I;

The Summerside Journal July 11, 1941 reported: “The Elmsdale softball team is in its stride in opening the season with victories over Alberton in 4 consecutive games.”

In the Elmsdale notes in the Summerside Journal September 2, 1949: “Elmsdale baseball team is down to semi-finals in play-off with Roseville. First game -— Elmsdale won at home 12-11. If they win the next game they advance with Bloomfield, who eliminated Alberton.”

Later the newspaper reported: “The Elmsdale ball team played Bloomfield at Elmsdale on September 2, 1949 and won 9-5. On Sept. 5th the championship of the Twilight team was decided when at Bloomfield “Elmsdale Nine” clinched the title in two

straight games.”

The last mention in 1949 said: “On September 21, 1949 the Elmsdale ball team passed through Rosebank en route to Bloomfield, where they were winners of the John MacEachem Silver Cup Trophy in the playoff game at Bloomfield. The score 14— 10 in favor of Elmsdale.”

The following year in September 1950 the Summerside Journal reported:

The second game of the final playoffs in the Twilight league was played at the Elmsdale diamond on Wednesday evening with Bloomfield, the opposing team. The home team won 15-5. The first game which is yet unfinished is to be completed on Friday night in Bloomfield. The line-ups of the indi-
