A History of Elmsdale , West, and Brockton , Prince Edward Island apples, gathered in the fall from the orchard were wrapped in newspaper and stored in the cold room of the basement. At Christmastime they would be picked over and the best put in the stockings along with a few home-sewn doll clothes made to fit the dolls the children already had, and wood-carved toys topped off by some homemade candy.. .if they were lucky enough to get some sugar to make the candy. Everyone got clothes as gifts as these were a necessity for every family. Some of the local merchants gathered together and placed a portion of each candy shipment in a Christ¬ mas stocking fund. Then on December 21st they rationed the candy, each family receiving two pounds, thus assuring the children much pleasure on Christmas Day . coNsuairs 5ATI0H COWOM CAliND A* DECEMBER COUPON VAlUf s ftllffft • H; flfN MC«t ftliS Wit' 1 THUMDAV j Kl SAT i 2 3 4 5 A BUTTE* COUPON 132 MEAT COUPON 14 VM 7 8 9 10 II 12 JO BUTTER COUPON 133 MEAT COUPON 15 VoM 14 15 16 17 18 10 AAMKfMVM /O ecu*©** n*. mj, ««, «* •^WH« MU4' t-1|tJ 21 23/ X30 24/ /3I 25 ■l^p dj^ 97 BUTTER COUPON 135 MEAT COUPON 17 VoU 28 Imteod of 1 swgor coupon ond 2 pr#**rv** I****?ore, in oddftm to fit ond P23 wfcd* , coupon* coning good in Decorofeer, tfierc w$ b# ordinary bocooii good in Pocfidbgr, P 74oftd 4 pmmwm coupons, this b for two roosons: f If w.H dw bocomo good it Hcorivtm>ni»o faii^ i^o PcoupomottU , coupon, •nd of tbo year. &* *>*«** iIhi tour proiorv** coupons or* % Any consumer who pftfors ratkmod pr#- W«* f™ %#m* ^mmmm^M^m^m mm* to sugar of *• CMMMi-MMMMi- *# f»*> *» *** **f* ***** iff**- Wfi **** be obU to got iKom, ' ^ ft *• WNbrtta* h iit iuppr ration.
