school library collections were
strengthened, school stops were discontinued. The Bookmobile
continued to visit the corner store in Elmsdale until the closure of the Provincial Library Bookmo- bile service in 1993.

KING GEORGE V JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS The Island Farmer Elmsdale Notes May 22,1935 described the King George V Jubilee celebrations held 1n Elmsdale:
The George V Jubilee was fittingly celebrated in Elmsdale. The school children and citizens marched . from the school to the hall where a short program was held with speeches by Mr. John Matthews and Rev. Mr. MacLeod. In the evening a large bonfire closed the celebration with many voices mingling
in God Save the King.
