(3) SAIDAH MARY ZAKEM (1894-1980)

SAIDAH ZAKEM was the first born of Joseph Zakem and Zaryfie Ramieh. She was born on January 1, 1894 in Kfeir. On August 1,1916, she married Nemir Tweel (1886- 1970) Rev. Joseph Korbawi was the officiating priest.

Their first daughter died shortly after birth and Faris was born on March 8, on a Sunday 1920. in Kfeir. The next eight children were born in Canada: Rita on June 15,1922 in St. Malachie, Quebec, Daniel, April 18 1924, Samuel, June 23 1926, David, July 9 1927, Solomon, November 8, 1929 Daisy, November 13 1932, Ruby, December3, 1934, and Norman, October 10, 1936. All seven were born in Charlottetown, PEI Canada.

Nemir, the son of Butros El Koury Taweel, was born June 11, 1889. In 1910 he and his brothers went to Cold Water, Michigan U. S. A. and opened a lunch bar called the “Cold Water Candy Kitchen”. He apparently loved making candy and chocolate bars. Rita gave me a sample of the tin candy mold that he used.
