of her sister Nabeha Khoury. They lived on St. Dennis Street for several years and that is where I recall visiting them on a few occasions. On one of my unannounced visits, she was on her way to visit George Zakem, father of Olga and son of Sadd and grandson of Shaheen who was the brother of my great grandfather Habib Zakem. She went there to meet Naif Zakem, who was the son of Kizma and grandson of Shaheen. Since Saad and Kizma were brothers, that would make George and Naif first cousins. I went along with her and met Naif who knew my father and asked about him.

Picture of young Uncle Said 25'h wedding anniversary, 1949
I had known George Zakem and his wife Agia before. She was a very friendly warm person and lived near the Lebanese Syrian Canadian Association building on Jean Talon Street on a third floor apartment. Their daughter, Olga did visit the Island with her father. I remember playing cards with him. The card game he taught us was called “Fish” So we called him Uncle Fish. Olga’s brother Ed was a salesman for a furniture store on St. Catherine’s Street in Montreal. We bought our first piece of furniture from him and he
had it sent to Charlottetown.
The next time I visited my uncle and aunt was in the early 1950. George, son of Naif Zakem came to Canada and married Souhaila, daughter of Nabeha and niece of Salwa. They were having a baptism party for their first born, Sameera. I went there with my sister Yvonne and her husband Jim. I remember my Uncle Toufic being there, as well as John and Helen Kousaie, my wife Janet’s brother and sister. Janet’s mother Wazna was a Zakem, married to Tanous Kousaie. The Kousaies were frequent visitors to my
