Dad’s renovated store i
n St. Paul in 1935. The family lived on the second floor.
So my dad had a “close out sale” and we moved to Charlottetown. We now numbered six children. We were all born in Quebec except Yvonne and our ages ranged from 1 to 11 years old. When we first arrived, we stayed with my aunt Mary (Joe Kays) my mother’s sister. They lived and ran a grocery store on the north side of Fitzory Street two houses up from Esher Street.
We opened a store in 1936 on corner of Grafton and Weymouth Street, which was really a big front room of the house. In 1948 we built a new living quarters and store across the street and in 1978 sold the business.
