ABRAHAM ZAKEM was born in St. Paul, Quebec in 1929. He attended Queen Square School and decided to work in the family grocery store after finishing grade 10.
Abe and I were involved in Scouting for many years and later on with the Basilica Youth Club. Abe was also very active in the Knights of Columbus and was Charter member of the Kiwanis Club. He was elected for two terms on the Charlottetown Utility Commission. For his long and dedicated service to the community and Charter member of his Kiwanis Club, a housing project for low income families built on the waterfront and was named ABE ZAKEM HOUSE in his honor.
Abe married Laura Rashed on September 22, 1968 in Charlottetown. Laura was born in Kfeir.

Laura was previously married in Lebanon and had two children: 1 Tony (May 10, 1963) married Sarah Hyde on August 10, 2001. They have a
daughter, Brianna and a son Zachary.. 2 Nofa (Feb 4, 1965) married to Aldo Dibacco on August 3, 1996. They have five
children, Julia, Matthew, Sabrina and twins Daniella and Vanessa. Laura’s first husband, N awaf Sabhally, was serving in the armed service and was killed in an army truck accident in Lebanon. She came to Canada to be with her brothers
