JEAN ZAKEM was born August 22, 1933 in Saint Paul, Quebec. She attended Notre Dame Convent and Commercial studies at Prince of Wales College. She worked for a

short time in a Federal Government office before working full time at the family business. On March 25, 1963 she married Labeeb Rashed.

Jean was quite active in the Little Theater and played in several plays, including Anne of Anne of Green Gable before it became a popular production on T V and at the Confederation Center of the Arts.

Labeeb came from Kfeir and for a short time worked in Ottawa at a men’s clothing store. He had an uncle Toufic Nasser who was a very successful clothing retailer in Huntington, West Virgina. He was instrumental in ensuring that Labeeb and his sisters and brothers received an education in Lebanon. Labeeb was a teacher in Lebanon.
