CARETAKERS

Caretakers, Custodians and Sextons, no matter what the name, have all played a very important role in the history of the first Baptist Church. Like other staff, records of all names are incomplete. The first sexton was John Burhoe, hired in 1882, and the current custodian is Carl MacQuaid. Between them many have served the mem- bers well in taking great care of three church buildings. Recalled names include, in random order: Rafael Cierra, Edgar Gillespie, David Griffin, Peter Howatt, George

Peterson and Gary Watts.
