Later when the station moved to the Brace Block on Queen Street, Art McDonald with his usual flair and energy, organized an Island wide

talent contest. Art, to use a modern expression, hyped it up over the air, and soon

the contest was considered to be a very big thing indeed. Talent poured in from one end of the Island to the other. There were no formal auditions. Art simply got a prospective competitor aside, listened to a few bars of their playing or singing, and if he liked them told them they were on. The rules were simple. Once all the competitors were in the studio, they were not allowed out until the program was over. The winner was decided by the most number of votes from the listening public.
