The Sleepy Town Express the part of Santa Claus. Even the famous actor's publication "Billboard" referred to a "character part" he played on the radio. I remember each time he made his appearance, whether it was on radio or television, he would wear his bright red suit and would be using newly washed white gloves courtesy of his darling wife Patricia. He would sing songs in his deep bass voice, accompanied for many years by his own arrangements on his accordian. Later Jackie Doyle played the piano for him. He loved to make up a parody to a tune like "Smile Awhile". "Fare you well, and goodbye everyone One more night and my work will be done, Christmas morn will bring you joy Joy to every girl and boy Dream of Santa , all the whole night through Go to sleep and I will come to you A Merry Christmas to you all 'Till we meet again."
