Summers are especially busy times as D’Arcy, Stephen and Joey, along with their growing families, join in on the many family activities, events and celebrations. Each summer, Kathleen and most of the family attend the annual Cemetary Sunday held at the Roman Catholic Cemetary on St. Peter’s Road in Charlottetown.
Keeping in touch with others is a part of Kathleen’s daily routine. She regularly visits friends who are confined to nursing homes, and other older people in the community. She believes it is important for her to make those efforts to keep in touch, and also appreciates those who keep in touch with her. Friends and co—workers of Bill’s from their days with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans frequently dropped by to pay
a visit or drop off some berries. One special group with which she has maintained close contact over the years is her fellow graduates in the class of 1949 at Saint Dunstans University. Every summer, they get together for a reunion, catch up on old times and renew the bonds of friendship.
Keeping family and friends together was always a major priority for Kathleen. She regularly visits relatives in Kinkora and Emerald. Family and friends often dropped by her home for a short visit or a meal. She faithfully attends wakes and funerals for the numerous family member and friends she has lost over the years. She has attended the key events in the lives of each of her 28 grandchildren.
