The Belvidere Gun Club members, again this year, gathered at Walter Mellett's farm for their first shoot of the new season, and their annual meeting. Mellett's farm was the last one on the right hand side, going out the Union Road, just before the rail- road tracks. Getting there was a long trip by horse at the time, but the location was only a few hundred yards from the north end of the main runway at the Charlottetown Airport today. It was Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 15th, 1888. With a fair group and four prizes, they elected to shoot two individual matches rather than the team events they had been using with a first and second gross prize for each event.
