They manufactured the balls of a hard composition that would not break falling back to the ground, if missed, and sold them in barrels of 1500 for the same cost as 'Blue Rocks.' Heavy advertising failed to make the game popular and it lasted less than a decade, and never reached the shores of Prince Edward Island. Trapshooting was now firmly entrenched in Canada, but, except for clubs in the larger cities like Hamilton, Toronto, and Montreal, there were very few organizations well enough informed to operate under the rules sanctioned by the I.M.D.A., or with the now universally accepted trapshooting layout. Most clubs, like the Belvidere Club of 20 years ago, were single trap, single station, 16-yard layouts, with a membership that looked forward to a more casual competition that was suited to their particular desires and tastes.
