Following the initial Heartz Trophy contest the members stayed on to shoot an extra pair of crossing doubles with three of the Hyndmans; Fred, Eardley, and Al, the only ones to break a pair. It would become a habit, following most important matches, to have a secondary contest...this not only gave the contestants some extra shooting, but it also allowed the members not participating in the major event an opportunity to shoot, however briefly.

The second round of the Heartz Trophy match was held at Belmont two weeks later on March llth. It was a bright sunny day, but the gunners would have to face a stiff northerly wind, which made the targets jump on occasion. John Andrews decided he would not shoot, based on his showing in the first match, and despite urging from the other members, elected to spend the day assisting in the loading and releasing of the traps. Considering the wind, the scores again were excellent. This time it was Arthur Peake and Fred Hyndman who were the leading gunners of the day, missing only three targets each. From the scores can be seen the problems members were having with the crossing shots, and the doubles. These, they all considered, were the ultimate test of sharpshooting. The scores were much the same as the first match, except that some of the positions had changed;
