guests, and an exciting social gathering was planned. Shooting scores were not recorded on the day the officers of H.M.S. Cornwall visited Inkerman, but there are indications that the visitors found trapshooting more than a challenge, and that socially it was an event to remember, with many members arriving home rather late in the evening, much to the distress of other members of the family!! The final shoot of the year, the last match of the Heartz competition, was held at Inkerman on Saturday, May 18th, and when the day was done all of the club prize winners for the year had been decided. Major Charles Leigh had won the Heartz competiton, and the new Greener gun that Frank Heartz had donated to it. Runner-up was Al Hyndman, and Eardley Hyndman finished third. Fourteen club members had participated in the matches this year, with higher average scores than in 1911l...but no one had yet achieved the perfect score of 12 straight targets, and the record was still 10. The winner of the Dominion Cartridge Gun Case was John Hyndman, and the silver flask went to Capt. Ernest Peake who was the top scorer in the 75% category. Again this year, the members tendered Frank Heartz a banquet in appreciation for his donation and contribution to the success of the Club. The dinner was held at Blake House and the "Island Patriot", on June 13th, reported on it as follows; "The dinning room of the Blake Hotel of this city was the scene of a very enjoyable function last evening, when a complimentary banquet was tendered by the members of the Newstead Gun Club to their popular vice- president, Mr. Frank R. Heartz. The chair was taken by Mr. F. W. Hyndman, President of the Club. After the excellent menu had been disposed of the evening was pleasantly spent in speeches, making songs, recitations, and other forms of entertainment. The toast to --97--
