Another meeting was held in late September, at the office of President Hyndman, to make plans for the Annual Meeting and to discuss decisions that would be finalized at that time. A great deal of conversation centered around a location for the Club to shoot during the coming season. Inkerman was again considered, but there was an element of feeling that the Club had created somewhat of an imposition on the residents; and Frank Heartz, currently Vice-President of the Provincial Exhibition Association, suggested the Club might have the use of the infield at the race track for perhaps $25 a year, and the Club should write the Secretary for more information. Other discussions suggested the possibility of setting up an annual membership dues requirement of $10; that the maximum number of members in the Club be increased from 20 to 30; and that prices be obtained, as soon as possible, for two new traps, which all felt were a serious priority. Before adjournment, R. M. Steele was voted in as a member of the Club. Letters were sent immediately to Mr. C. R. Smallwood, Secretary of the Exhibition Association, concerning rental of their grounds, and to a variety of suppliers seeking prices on new traps. Relative to the latter, many letters were received in reply, basi- cally involving two makes...Western, and the Leggett ‘Expert.’ Both had their particular features, but the best offer came from the Two Barkers, a merchandising company in Amherst, Nova Scotia, that had supplied the traps for both the Port Elgin and Amherst gun clubs. Their price was right for their Leggett Trap, which, as advertisements stated, could be operated easily by a small boy trapping for five shooters. All of the prices for traps would be looked at and a decision made at the upcoming annual meeting. The Western Cartridge Company of Alton, Illinois, was starting to move its products into Canada, concentrating particularly on the clay target market, currently dominated by 'Blue Rocks,' and home built ‘Canadian Blackbirds.' Western targets carried the --101--
