Heartz had been touring in France where, just 6 days earlier, and as yet unknown to the members, he was involved in a serious auto accident that almost took his life. The meeting however went on...A letter of response had not been received from the Provincial Exhibition Association but all in attendance agreed that, with approval, they would in fact lease the infield of the race track for their 1913 winter shooting season...the location would be ideal, not too far outside the city limits, and bad roads should not provide too much of a problem. The proposed annual membership fee of $10.00 was rejected, but a reduced $8.00 fee was approved. In a further effort to control potential members, the Club agreed that prospects' names submitted would have to be posted three weeks prior to the date of voting, and that those moving the nomination of the individual would have to be prepared to give a full character reference to the membership, if requested. Two new traps were approved, to be purchased from the Two Barkers Ltd. in Amherst, at a cost of $8.50 each. The Secretary reported that he had just received a letter from the Powder Division of Dupont, in Wilmington, Delaware, with blueprints showing how to lay out and install an automatic trap with a remote release lever some 20 yards back. This was the layout that was being used in other parts of the Maritimes, and required a more permanent installation than they were now using...there was, however, considerable interest expressed in it. Following the regular business, the Club nominated and elected a new executive consisting of Frank Heartz, President, Charles Leigh, Vice- President, and R. B. Rossborough, Secretary/Treasurer. It was also reported that one of the Club's earliest and most enthusiastic members, Justice Louis G. Haszard, had passed away, ending a long association of the Haszard name with clay target shooting on the Island.
Shortly after the annual meeting, no doubt at the urging of recuperating President Heartz, the Secretary received a letter from the Provincial Exhibition Association.
