company gathered glistened with snowy napery, glittering silver and chinaware, relieved by the exquisite colors of the flowers.
Major Leigh gracefully presided, while Major Weeks skillfully discharged the duties of Vice-President Mr. Frank R. Heartz, the honored guest, sat on the right of the chairman, and his worship Mayor Lyons, on the left.
Those present were Dr. Jenkins, M.L.A., Messrs. A. W. Hyndman, W. E. Bentley, James Walker, United States Consul Frost, Messrs. J. G. Jamieson, W. E. Hyndman, E. G. Coombs, J. O. Hyndman, Colonel Peake, and Mr. Nash of the Patriot. Preliminary to the dinner letters of regret were read from those who were unavoidably absent. Among them was one from Mr. F. W. Hyndman, ex-President of the Club. The letters were read by Mr. Coombs, Secretary/Treasurer, and expressed great regret at missing the occasion, and all best wishes for the happiness of those assembled and the continued success of the Club. Just as the dinner was about to begin a pleasing incident was the presentation to Mr. Heartz by Major Leigh on behalf of the Club of a beautiful pipe.
The menu which was served under the direction of that veteran major domo, Alexander McCannell, was another tangible illustration of the perfection of the culinary art of the Hotel Davies. It was dainty, temption and in every way such as would satisfy an epicure. Here is the menu:
